UGC Contract Template

Every UGC deal needs terms in writing. Start from this plain-language template — deliverables, revisions, rights, and payment, all covered.

Quick answer
A good UGC contract covers six things: the deliverables, the timeline, how many revisions are included, the usage rights (organic vs ads, how long, exclusivity), the payment terms, and who owns the content until you're paid. This free template lays out all six in plain language — copy it, fill the brackets, and send.

UGC CONTENT AGREEMENT

This agreement is between:
Creator: [Your name / business], [email]
Brand: [Brand name], [contact name], [email]
  Date: [Date]

1. THE WORK
The Creator will produce the following for the Brand:
   - Deliverables: [e.g. 2 x 30-second vertical videos]
   - Platform / format: [e.g. TikTok, 9:16, raw + captioned]
   - Concept / brief: [1–2 lines, or "see attached brief"]

2. TIMELINE
   - Draft delivered by: [date]
   - Final delivered by: [date]
   - Brand feedback within: [e.g. 3 business days] of each draft.

3. REVISIONS
   - Included rounds of revisions: [e.g. 1]
   - Additional rounds: [$ per round]
Revisions cover the agreed brief. New concepts or added deliverables are a
   separate order.

4. USAGE RIGHTS
The Brand may use the content as follows:
   - Where: [organic only / paid ads / whitelisting from Creator's handle]
   - How long: [e.g. 6 months from delivery / perpetual]
   - Exclusivity: [none / category / total] for [term]
Any use beyond the above requires a new agreement and fee. The Creator keeps
ownership of the content until payment is received in full (see 6).

5. PAYMENT
   - Total fee: $[amount]
   - Deposit: [e.g. 50% to book, due before work starts]
   - Balance: due within [e.g. 7 days] of final delivery.
   - Late payments: [e.g. after 14 days, a 5% fee may apply].

6. OWNERSHIP & PAYMENT
The Creator retains full ownership of all content until the total fee is paid.
Usage rights in section 4 begin only once payment is complete.

7. CANCELLATION
   - If the Brand cancels after work has started, the deposit is non-refundable.
   - If cancelled after draft delivery, [e.g. 100%] of the fee is due.

8. CREDIT & APPROVALS
   - Creator credit / tag: [required / not required]
   - The Brand is responsible for any product claims it asks the Creator to make.

9. GENERAL
This is the whole agreement between the parties. Changes must be agreed in
   writing by both sides.

FAQ

What should a UGC contract include?+

Deliverables, timeline, revision rounds, usage rights (where and how long), payment terms, and a clause that you keep ownership until paid in full. This template covers each one.

Is this UGC contract template legally binding?+

A signed agreement both parties accept is generally enforceable, but this is a plain-language starting point, not legal advice — adapt it and check local laws for anything high-stakes.

How many revisions should a UGC contract include?+

One included round is standard, with extra rounds charged per round. Define it up front so added work is paid work.

Can I send a signable version instead of a text file?+

Yes — inside Plug you fill, send, and track a real contract tied to the deal, with the license and payment on the same record, instead of emailing a PDF back and forth.
